Most Saturday mornings are spent catching up on chores or running errands, but this past weekend I decided to try something different. I headed to the Donut Star parking lot on Newport Road for my first Menifee Cars and Coffee event, and it quickly became one of the most enjoyable community gatherings I have experienced in Menifee.
What started nearly two years ago with just four cars has grown into a weekly tradition that now draws around 70 vehicles every Saturday. Organizer Greg Melendez shared how he and a few friends helped get the event rolling, never expecting it to grow into such a popular local meetup.

Walking through the packed lot, it was easy to see why people keep coming back. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed, and completely free of judgment. Whether you drive a classic muscle car, sports car, lifted truck, low rider, or daily driver, everyone is invited. Local car clubs often attend, creating an impressive mix of automotive history and personality.
What makes Menifee Cars and Coffee stand out is its consistency. Instead of hosting occasional meetups, Greg made it a weekly event that has become part of many residents’ routines. Even when he cannot attend, the community keeps it going.

Beyond the cars, the event is really about connection. Greg proudly shared stories of friendships formed over coffee and conversations, and even a few romances sparked between rows of polished chrome and rumbling engines.
The gathering also supports nearby businesses like Del Taco and Donut Star, where many attendees grab breakfast before strolling through the show.
Menifee Cars and Coffee is proof that a simple idea can bring a community together. If you are looking for a new weekend tradition, stop by next Saturday at 8 a.m. You may leave with a new appreciation for Menifee and a few new friends.
